¶ Outlier Action Limits
In this article, we will understand Outlier Action Limits, how to set them in Optimize, and who approves bid and budget outliers.
The Outlier Action Limits feature enables CSMs to set default thresholds for bid and budget percentage changes for their campaigns/ad sets in an AI Group. If any bid or budget percentage change suggestion made by using either Manual Action or Action Lever constraints, exceeds the set Outlier Action Limits, then the bid and budget adjustments are automatically blocked until they receive approval from a Global Admin. In such cases, the CSM can reach out to their team lead to get the action approved.

¶ Outlier Action Limits in Optimize
In the Optimize feature, you have the option to configure the Outlier Action Limits thresholds. These thresholds act as safeguards, ensuring that the system refrains from taking any actions on your ad platform at campaign/adset level—whether AI-automated or manual—that would result in bid and budget adjustments exceeding the predetermined percentage limits. This prevents sudden and drastic changes to bids and budgets within your clients' accounts, thereby safeguarding against potential errors or unexpected fluctuations.
You can adjust these thresholds, and any Bid and Budget action recommendations by AI or Manual Actions falling within them will be executed directly on the ad platform without requiring approval.
Note: The default Outlier Action Limits is -50% to 100%.
How is the Outlier Action Limits is different from Bid and Budget Action Levers?
The Outlier Action Limits has a broader scope as it encompasses setting default limits for Bid and Budget changes. This includes actions performed manually, such as those under View Recommendations. In contrast, Action Levers are specifically tailored to AI recommendations, offering a more targeted approach.
¶ What if Manual Actions exceeds Outlier Action Limits?
In situations where you have to execute Manual Actions, under View Recommendation, to change the Bid and Budget amount that goes beyond the default Outlier Action Limits. Your bid and budget actions will not be implemented on the ad platform until they are approved by a global admin. The status of these recommendations would show “Waiting for Approval”.
¶ Who can approve Outlier Action Limits?
For approval of outlier bid and budget actions, there are multiple POCs available. However, only users holding the Global Admin role and some specific users have the authority to approve these actions. You can seek approval from your team lead or the support team.
